Reigning Uganda Premier league champions, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) hosts nemesis Proline in the epic Lugogo derby on Tuesday.

What makes this fixture as thrilling and exciting is that  fact that both clubs host their home matches at Lugogo, and there will be no room for error for either sides as the game comes at an opportune time for the two sides with completely different aspirations.

KCCA has a realistic chance of defending their championship should leaders Vipers falter in the remaining games.

Proline, on the other hand, are desperately seeking for points to help them survive the relegation monster.

In 11 matches played between the two clubs, KCCA has a lion’s share of victories, recording six victories to Proline’s three.

Two games have been drawn apiece with 17 goals and conceding nine.

KCCA has registered the biggest win over Proline, 4-1 and Proline has managed just a 2-1 win over the Kasasiro lads.

Team News:

KCCA is fresh from the disappointing 1-0 loss away to Township Rollers in the CAF Champions league.

Mike Mutebi and the rest of his charges returned to Uganda over the weekend and resumed planning for the league straight away.

Saddam Ibrahim Juma and Muzamiru Mutyaba remain sidelined with long term injuries.

Goalkeeper Charles Lukwago, who missed the away loss to Township Rollers because he was suspended is expected to return to the starting line up against Proline at the expense of Tom Ikara.

For starters, Lukwago previously played at Proline before switching allegiance to the 12 time league winners.

The rest of the crop are match fit and ready to be named on the match day team.

Julius Poloto, Isaac Kirabira, Lawrence Bukenya, Allan Poloto, Solomon Okwalinga and Paul Mucureezi are the bed rock of a solid KCCA midfield with Derrick Nsibambi, Patrick Kaddu and Muhammed Shaban offering Mutebi options up front.

Fillbert Obenchan, Denis Okot Oola, Habib Kavuma, Paul Musamali and team captain Timothy Denis Awany are all available for selection among the pool of defenders.

Mujib Kasule’s Proline earned a hard fought point during their one all draw away to Mbarara City at the Kakyeeka Stadium last Saturday.

Emmanuel Ibe Obinna’s 55th minute penalty canceled Daniel Isiagi’s first half opener as the two sides shared the spoils.

Proline will pray that Uganda U-20 goalkeeper Saidi Keni is fully alert throughout the game for the best performance against an hungry side like KCCA.

With Savio Kabugo out, the mantle to lead the youngsters shall be bestowed upon skipper Joseph Mandela, the proven left winger Simon “Monnie” Mbaziira, veteran Sa Ibrahim Ssendi, Simon Mbaziira, Joshua Okiror, Nigerian import Lyasele Odili and the on colour Daniel Opolot Isiagi. The latter played for KCCA and has a second opportunity to face his former club.

Kabugo has already urged his teammates to fight tooth and nail for decent results on the day.

KCCA is currently third with 51 points off 26 matches, 7 points adrift of the leaders, Vipers.

Proline is embedded in the relegation zone, in 15th place with 27 points off the same number of points.

A loss for either side will spell doom and short of their season aspirations with two match days to left on the rooster.
