The match was originally scheduled for Tuesday but was pushed ahead by 24 hours on request of the home club because of the official opening ceremony for the 2018 national Copa coca cola football championships at Kakyeeka stadium.

Coming to the game proper, Onduparaka is safely assured of a top five finish by the close of business for the 2017/18 season having attained 45 points from 28 matches of the season.

The home side, coached by former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Samuel Kawalya is still embedded in relegation politicking and it will be incumbent upon them for a desperate fight to avoid being cut off among the lowest three clubs by the end of the season.

“We have to fight for every points available in our remaining matches” Kawalya attested.

From 28 matches played thus far, Mbarara City has 29 points, same as Soana who play UPDF this Friday at Bombo.

Key battles and players:

The Ankole Lions will back on a spirited crop of players led by experienced goalkeeper Ali Kimera.

Clinton Kamugisha, Hillary Mukundane, Owen Kasule, Eddie Mubiru, Zaidi Byekwaso, Asuman Alishe, South Sudanese lanky striker Makweth Wol, Siraje Musindo, Brian Ahebwa and the free scoring Nigerian import Emmanuel Ibe Obinna are all available for selection.

Still basking in the 5-0 and 1-0 away wins to Police and Soana respectively in the recent past, Onduparaka has the fire power to pull off a decent result away from home.

In left winger, Viane Ssekajugo, goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato, roving right back Aggrey Kirya, left back Rashid Okocha, Ceasar Okhuti, Gadafi Gadihno and captain Rashid Toha, the Catarpillars are roaring to go for maximum points and consolidate fourth place.

Teenager Ezra Bidda is absent since he was summoned for the Uganda U-20 national team duty but in Malish Jamal, there is a trusted back up plan.
