Soana enlightened their chances of surviving relegation with a 2-1 win away to fellow relegation candidates UPDF in Bombo on Friday.

Allan Kayiwa and Petit Wanok scored for the visitors in the first half before Titus Lubega pulled one back for the army side.

The army side came into the game buoyed by their 1-0 win over SC Villa last week but went down as early as the 17th minute when Kayiwa scored from the penalty.

Wanok ensured a two goal cushion at the break with a goal six minutes to half time.

In the second half, the visitors sat back to defend their lead but Steven Bogere’s side attacks resulted into a foul in the area.

The resultant penalty was converted by Lubega with ten minutes to time but Soana held on for all points.

The Kavumba based side are now on 31 points from 29 games while UPDF dropped to 14th with two points less.

The biggest worry for the army side now is the visit to Vipers on the last day.
