If their season opening game is anything to go by, the 2018 National Basketball League campaign will be a long one for newcomers Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) Ravens.

Ravens suffered the heaviest defeat of the opening day with star-studded Lady Dolphins making light work of the freshers in the 86-27 victory on Saturday.

Facing two of the most explosive players in the league – Ritah Imanishimwe and Jamila Nansikombi – UMU were to have a torrid afternoon.

The pair combined for 49 points with Nansikombi pouring in game high 25 points, and Imanishimwe adding 24 as JKL started the season on a sound note.

A 20-6 lead after one and a 42-10 at the half for Dolphins meant Ravens were to be left for dead as they barely troubled Mandy Juruni’s charges.

Peace Nakirijja (11 points) also scored in double figures for JKL while Vicky Akello (8 points, 9 rebounds) was UMU’s top performer.
