KCCA are once again set to miss the services of midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba for the Caf Champions League tie against Al Ahly.
The former Maroons and SC Victoria University has been ruled out due to a recurring injury that saw him also miss the 1-0 defeat at the hands of Township Rollers on match day one.
The midfielder sat out the last training session at Namboole and confirmed he hurt his knee again when he came on as a substitute in the 2-0 league win over Proline.
“As I chased down Noordin Bunjo (Proline), I twisted the ankle again and felt the pain but played on until the end,” he told Monitor Sport.
The doctor (Ivan Ssewanyana) gave me an injection but the pain persisted. I won’t be able to play.
The news is a big blow to Mike Mutebi who was excited as Mutyaba and Ibrahim Sadam Juma returned last week.
“These are players (Mutyaba and Sadam) that use the ball well,” Mutebi told the press after the win over Proline.
Their return definitely adds to our strength. I have to say it’s the right time for them to return and we need them. We need them at the continent because they do give us depth, they bring experience.
Mutyaba’s absence means the gaffer will go with Jackson Nunda and Allan Okello as attacking midfielders behind the main man, Muhammad Shaban with Sadam Juma and Isaac Kirabira just in front of the defence.
KCCA target maximum points to keep chances of a quarter finals appearance alive.
