Reigning Uganda Premier League champions Vipers Sports Club will head to the summit of the league standings if they win against visiting new comers Nyamityobora at the freshly laid astro turf of St Mary’s Stadium on Saturday.

This will be one of the three games for the close of match day three.

Bright Stars FC also on two wins out of two games, like Vipers will be in action as they entertain Sports Club Villa at the Champions Stadium in Mwererwe and Mbarara City shall be at their temporary home against George Nsimbe’s Maroons.

At the St Mary’s, Vipers eye maximum points as they make maximum use and advantage of the synthetic playing surface on a ground they won their opening game of the season, 1-0 against Ndejje University.

They also managed to recover from a goal and win 2-1 away to Maroons at the Luzira prisons play ground on match day two.

Come match day three, Javier Martinez’s charges welcome back their two trusted midfielders Tadeo Lwanga and Moses Waiswa from national duties with the Uganda Cranes.

The duo were the Vipers Sports Club players who were with the national team in the two back to back victories against Lesotho, winning 3-0 and 2-0 at home and away in Maseru respectively.

“We return to club duty with confidence and we know there is a contribution to be made as we seek maximum points against Nyamityobora” Tadeo Lwanga, also the team skipper noted.

Striker Davis Kasirye (two goals to his name), Dan “Muzeyi” Sserunkuma, Frank ‘Zagga’ Tumwesigye, winger Duncan Sseninde, defenders Aggrey Madoi, Geofrey Wasswa, Livingstone Mulondo and Bashir Asiku are other important players for team Vipers.

Nyamityobora comes to this match having lost the first two matches away to Onduparaka in Arua 2-0 before squandering a 2-0 lead to fall 3-2 at their adapted Wankulukuku home to Bright Stars.

James Odoch’s charges have also been dogged by player match fixing allegations where their first choice goalkeeper Franco Oringa and right back Henry Wamala were accused of match fixing and thus suspended.

Nyamityobora will seek inspiration from the former Onduparaka duo of Moses Ndawula and John Wesley Kisakye, Muhammed Iga, Ibrahim Pengere, Charles Musige, Cameroonian defender Calvin Barni as well as former Uganda U-17 left back Alex Komakech, who was born and bred at St Mary’s Kitende S.S team.

Anything less of maximum points for Nyamityobora will definitely spell doom for the technical team that has Spaniard Antonio Flores and Odoch as technical director and head coach respectively.

On Friday, Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Football Club overcame Ndejje University 1-0 at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole and KCCA beat Onduparaka 2-0 in Arua.
