The Unimoni National T20 Cup continues this weekend at all five major grounds in the country. The 9th edition started last weekend with the back-to-back champions Challengers winning both their games in Jinja.

Premier, ACC, Ceylon Lions and Patidar also picked up wins on the opening weekend as teams fight to finish among the top four in the respective groups. The top four sides in each group will qualify for the quarterfinals before the semifinals and finals.

This weekend, KICC will travel to Jinja to play the Jinja sides and unless rain stops the action they should be able to win both games. Jinja SSS and JACC both play in the Division 3 of the national league and will have little to stop Hanumant Katkar and his star sided KICC side.

KICC will rely on their national team stars Irfan Afridi and Frank Nsubuga before they leave for Oman next weekend who together with former Cricket Cranes captain Davis Karashani should be able to take care of business in Jinja.

In Kyambogo, Division 2 side SKLPS will take on the junior Aziz Damani side and fellow Division 2 side ACC. ACC should be confident after an emphatic win over Avengers last weekend. The junior Aziz Damani side lost to Ceylon Lions and so far their performance against the big boys has been far from convincing.

Patidar will host Wanderers and Tornado Bee in Entebbe. Patidar defeated Premier in their first game this season and if they can win both games, they will be close to making the knock out stages. The T20 Cup is the only trophy that has eluded Tornado Bee and after a difficult 50 over season they have very little chance of winning the title.

The pick of the games this weekend will be the encounter between Strikers and the junior Aziz Damani side. Both sides are full of very exciting talent and in a format that favour’s Strikers batting power, it should be interesting to see how the young Aziz Damani side can stop them.

Denis has represented Uganda in international cricket events including the World Cup. He is currently the captain of Wanderers Cricket Club.
