Saturday, 3rd November 2018 is a big day in Uganda’s football. On the menu, there will be 7 games of the top-flight division, the Uganda Premier League.

Aloft on the agenda will see the reigning champions Vipers who will be entertaining Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) on the St Mary’s astro turf surface.

Speaking to journalists at Lugogo in Kampala on Friday ahead of the epic game, KCCA manager Mike Hilary Mutebi predicts a great, mouth-watering and contested game.

The game will be well contested and interesting. I expect an open game that will be entertaining to the fans. Arguably the two best clubs are facing each other. Both teams have the capacity to score the goals. There are 16 clubs that are competing for the league title. We have to concentrate on our won. We head to the match with the mentality of winning. We still have to concentrate and give confidence to the strikers who are not scoring. I would be worried if we were not creating the chances. Efficiency is still lacking. In Uganda, most of our center forwards wait for that long ball. Players will be able to express themselves because the pitch is good. It will be a plat form for talented players as Allan Okello, Jackson Nunda, Moses Waiswa to showcase their responsibility and full potential.

KCCA’s agenda:

Mutebi asserts KCCA, as always will set the day’s agenda. No, question, Mutebi stressed that Vipers – KCCA game is the biggest match on the land at the moment.

Vipers start as favorites because they are home it will be upon us to lay the agenda. KCCA sets the agenda. We do not play proactive. The opposition has to react to what we have set on the table because we have a style of play. KCCA is setting their own agenda. I would not mind the game ending 5-4, of course in favour of KCCA.

League as a marathon:

Mutebi insists this league tiding will not be determined by that one game since it is too early in the season but admits the winner on the day will have a psychological edge over the other.

The league is a marathon. It is still too early in the season to call for the league title although the winner will have a slight psychological advantage

KCCA will miss youngster Jurua who was red carded in the goal-less draw against Mbarara City while Vipers’ captain Tadeo Lwanga will also be absent as he completes a two match suspension accruing from the red card.

KCCA leads the table standings with 13 points off 5 matches, two points better of KCCA.

Vipers ended KCCA’s unbeaten run at Lugogo last season.

KCCA Probable XI:

Charles Lukwago (G.K), Fillbert Obenchan, Hassan Musana, Timothy Dennis Awany (Captain), Lawrence Bukenya, Sadam Ibrahim Juma, Julius Poloto, Allan Okello, Patrick Henry Kaddu, Allan Kyambadde, Mustafa Kizza
