Uganda Premier League (Match Day 11)

Express 3-2 KCCA

Express Football Club edged league leaders Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) 3-2 on a water logged Mutesa II Wankululuku Stadium.

The Red Eagles not only halted their own two match losing bad run, but also broke KCCA’s winning run that had lasted as many as 11 games.

Former KCCA forward Michael Birungi gave the Wankululuku based charges led by Kefa Kisala the lead on 16 minutes to take the command in the opening half.

Allan Kymbadde restored parity for the Mike Mutebi’s boys with a goal seven minutes upon restart of the second half.

Like Birungi, Kyambadde scored against his former club.

Eric Kambale regained Express’ lead with a great strike in the 68th minute as he removed his shirt to wheel off in celebration, earning himself a caution from the day’s referee Mashood Ssali.

Four minutes later, the game was virtually put to bed when Disan Galiwango shot the third goal to spark wild celebrations.

Allan Okello pulled a goal back 11 minutes to full time, creating a tense finish to the game.

Express held on firmly for a morale boosting victory following back to back losses toOnduparaka at home and away against Kirinya-Jinja S.S.

This was Express’ fourth win of the season in 11 matches, good enough to move them two places to 8th with 16 points.

KCCA thus suffered their first loss of the season, remaining top on the log with 24 points, since second placed Vipers were not in action.
