Two top performing clubs in the Elgon group of the FUFA Big League Wakiso Giants and Doves All Stars will wind up the first round of the second tier league with a date against each other this Thursday at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe in Jinja.

Coming to this particular game, Wakiso Giants is the only unbeaten side in the entire FUFA Big League (Elgon and Rwenzori groups combined) as they lead the Elgon affairs with 19 points off 9 matches.

Ibrahim Kirya’s coached side is just a point better of Anthony Bongole’s Doves All Stars, an Arua based physical side that has recently upped their game with a 2-1 win on the road at Kyetume.

Therefore, the Thursday encounter of great significance to the two clubs in the box as the first round climaxes.

Godfrey Ssekyewa, Edema, Ollu and Aniku are key pillars for Doves All Stars who seek to join Onduparaka and Paidha Black Angels in the top tier league next season.

Wakiso Giants, fresh from that highly billed up match against Entebbe where they won 2-1 will as usual bank on the experienced players on their side as Moses Ali Feni, Hassan Wasswa Dazo, Ivan Kiweewa, Abdul Karim Kasule, Duff Luboobi, goalkeeper Mansoor Mutumba, Fahad Kawooya and company for the much needed inspiration at home.

Elsewhere, Alex Isabirye’s Kyetume seeks third place when they play host to Allan Kabonge’s Entebbe.

Kyetume needed a slim 1-0 win over Nebbi Central – thanks to Ibrahim Kazindula’s late strike to jump to third place with 15 points, four shy of the leaders.

In the other matches, UPDF plays Nebbi Central in Bombo and Bukedea Town Council will entertain Amuka Bright Stars at the Emokori play ground.

Meanwhile, in the Rwenzori group, it is the same scenario at the top as in the Elgon group.

Table leaders Proline play host to Kabale Sharp at Lugogo as joint leaders Kiboga Young is away to Kira United at Namboole.

Both Proline and Kiboga Young have amassed 20 points from 9 matches.

A win and a flop for another will act to the respective team advantage.

In their immediate past game, Proline was held by Kansai Plascon to a one all draw in Mukono as Kiboga Young fell 1-0 at home to Mark Twinamatisko’s Dove in Kiboga.

Other Rwenzoru group games will see Water play Bumate United at Wankulukuku and Dove host Kansai Plascon at the Katushabe Play ground in Masindi.

But first, this Wednesday, Kitara United plays coach-less Kitara at Namboole Stadium.

Kitara lost their interim coach Edward Golola to top tier side Vipers.

In total, three clubs will be elevated from the FUFA Big league to the Uganda Premier League by May 2019.

Two clubs are promoted directly from each of the two group – Elgon and Rwenzori whilst the third is determined via a promotional play off.
