
Egypt and Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah is the African Player of the Year for the consecutive year running.
The forward was crowned at the glamorous ceremony held in Dakar, Senegal on Wednesday beating teammate Sadio Mane of Senegal and Arsenal and Gabon’s Pierre Emerick Aubameyang.
The voting was done by the Technical and Development committee of Caf, coaches/technical directors and captains of National Teams as well as Media experts, legends, coaches of interclubs quarter finalists and Total.
Salah joins a list of former winners who have done it more than once including El Hadji Diouf, Nwankwo Kanu, Didier Drogba, and Yaya Toure among others.
Elsewhere, Uganda Cranes was beaten to the National Team of the Year gong by Mauritania but Denis Masinde Onyango was named Africa’s number one for a third year running.
The former SC Villa goalkeeper is the only player based in Africa that made the continent’s best XI.
Morocco’s Herve Renard won the accolade for coach of the year, Chrestinah Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa is the Women’s Player of the Year,
