Towards the end of last year, a picture of Shafiq Nabetta made rounds on social media with him painted purple and white.
The 12-year-old was part of the crowd as Wakiso Giants took on Nebbi Central in the FUFA Big League at Bugembe.
Wakiso Giants, through a tweet, asked the social media platform users for 500 retweets for the club to pay fees for a young fan.
It took a few hours and the retweet threshold was reached. The club committed to support a young passionate fan by paying his school tuition for the year 2019.
Nabetta was finally rewarded with one million Uganda shillings at half time of the goalless draw between Wakiso Giants and Doves All Stars at Kyabaziga Stadium in Bugembe on Thursday, January 10.

“We promised and we have done what we needed to do to keep our word as an institution,” said Ismael Kiyonga, the head of Corporate Affairs at the club.
“We are not doing this for showbiz, but football or sports in general is about changing lives of those who make a contribution in different ways.
“As a football club, we were blown away by Shafiq’s love and desire to cheer our team in the manner he was doing so and we decided to take care of his tuition for the year,” Kiyonga added.
