Bright Stars perfectly recovered from a goal down to force a post-match penalty lottery that they won over Bumate United at the Christ High School playground in Bundibugyo on Sunday.

Beckam Musoki gave the home side the lead in the opening stanza of the game before Brian Kayanja found the equalizer late in the game.

In the tense shoot out, Bright Stars triumphed 5-3 to join the other successful clubs that have qualified to the stage of 16.

Augustine Kacancu, Aggrey Kirya, Samuel Ssekitto, Brian Kayanja and skipper Nelson Senkatuka were all on target for Fred Kajoba’s side.

In the other game played on Sunday, Kyetume humiliated visiting St Stephen 6-1 at the Nakisunga ssaza playground in Mukono.

The cup tourney takes a break on Monday before Tuesday’s only match when Kansai Plascon visits Vipers at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

On Wednesday, there will be five games with the mother of all battles witnessing Top Bet Mbarara City visit BUL at the FUFA Technical center, Njeru.

KCCA FC is the defending champion for the tournament that has been played since 1971.

The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup earns a direct ticket to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
