David Isabirye | Kawowo Sports Tarzan Kambugu scored a hat-trick as Kyetume defeated St Stephens 6-1 in the Uganda Cup round of 32

FUFA Big League Kyetume Football Club progressed to the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 stage with a convincing 6-1 home win over Luzira based St Stephen at the Nakisunga Ssaza play ground.

Tarzan Kambugu scored a hat-trick in the one sided match.

Kambugu struck the opener in the opening stages of the game before the visitors got the equalizer.

He then returned with the second as the opening 45 minutes ended 2-1 in favour of Alex Isabirye’s coached side.

Towering center forward Faisam Malangu got the third, Kambugu returned for the fourth with half an hour to play.

Usual suspects Dennis Lubowa and on fire winger –cum-striker Ibrahim Kazindula applying the icing on the already baked cake with the fifth and sixth goals on the evening.

Kazindula, in familiar fashion rounded off the goalkeeper to slot the ball into an empty net.

Kambugu became the second player to score a hat-trick in the competition after KCCA’s Mike Mutyaba in the 6-1 comprehensive win over Amuka Bright Stars.

In the other match, Bright Stars rallied from a goal down to force post-match penalties that they won with ease 5-3.

On Tuesday, Kansai Plascon visits Vipers at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

Come Wednesday, there will be five games with the anticipated thriller between Top Bet Mbarara City visit BUL at the FUFA Technical center, Njeru dominating the headlines.

KCCA FC is the defending champion for the tournament that has been played since 1971.

The winner of the Stanbic Uganda Cup earns a direct ticket to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
