Bashir Asiku will not be available for selection when Vipers play host to SC Villa at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday.
The young defender who has been out for a couple of weeks returned to training but will not be fit to play for the league champions in two-days time.
Asiku who sprained his ankle during the CAF Confederation Cup playoff game at home against CS Sfaxien only joined the team training today, having training on the side with conditioning coach Ram Nyakana over the past few days.
Asiku has been cleared to play after fully recovering though Saturday’s fixture against rivals SC Villa comes too early for him.
In his absence, Vipers technical bench has been juggling Livingstone Mulondo, Halid Lwaliwa and Geoffrey Wasswa but the later has at times been employed in the defensive midfield or right back.
Prior to his injury, Asiku had made eight appearance for the Venoms this season.
