The Fufa Disciplinary Committee has suspended Express attacking midfielder Michael Birungi for four matches for unsporting conduct.

According to the ruling dated February 5, Birungi attacked match officials at the centre of the field of play immediately after the match against Tooro United away in Buhinga.

“Case No 001/UPL/2019, Express FC captain Shirt No. 11 Birungi Michael attacked the match officials at the centre of the field of play immediately after the match, Tooro United vs Express FC on 29/01/2019 at Buhinga stadium, Fort Portal. Actions of Express FC Captain tantamount to breach of Fufa Competitions rules….” Read part of the statement.

In that regard, the skipper was slapped with a four match ban in all Fufa competitions.

“Express FC captain Michael Birungi is suspended for four (4) official Fufa Competitions match for unsporting conduct towards match officials.

Birungi will miss the league matches against Bul, Nyamityobora and Maroons and also the Stanbic Uganda Cup encounter against former bosses Police FC.

The Red Eagles are short of attacking options with Eric Kambale and Tony Odur out injured.
