  • Kitara Vs Dove – Kigaya playground, Hoima (4:30 PM)

Sunday 10th February:

  • JMC Hippos vs Nebbi Central – Kakindu Stadium
  • Bukedea Town Council vs Kyetume FC – Emokori Grounds

It is a clash of titans when Hoima based Kitara will play host to Masindi’s Dove in a FUFA Big League duel at Kigaya playground on Saturday.

This will be the return leg for these two clubs that are vying for qualification to the country’s elite division, Uganda Premier League.

When the two sides locked horns during the first leg played at the Katushabe playground in Masindi, Doves broke the hearts of their opponents with a late – late strike right at the death of the game to win 1-0 before hundreds of enthusiastic fans.

Experienced dread-locked left footed winger Bright Haguma was the hero with that goal.

Since that moment, a lot of water has gone down the drain.

Kitara has since ushered in a new technical management led by Richard Makumbi who replaced Samuel Kawalya.

Mark Twinamatisko who had been at one stage tipped to take over at Kitara remains at Doves and has been responsible for building as well as assembling a formidable and fearless team.

Coming to this return leg, there is a lot to play for since both teams are seeking maximum points to play catch up to the leading pack that has Proline, Kansai Plascon and Kiboga Young.

Whereas debutants Doves are seeking for a double, Kitara is plotting a revenge mission to make amends for the first round loss.

Despite losing several key players in the transfer window as John Adriko and Alex ‘Benzema’ Kitata, Kitara still has the fire power to make things work in their favour.

Now, the Hoima club has George Ssenkeba as the proven lead forward with former Bumate United talisman Beckam Musoki, Dennis Kamanzi, Musa Docca as the other experienced players on the team.

Fans too, from either camps, are expected to have a field day at office given the significance and hype of the game.

Three clubs shall be promoted to the Uganda Premier League by the close of business in May 2019.

The top two per group (Elgon and Rwenzori) qualify automatically.

The third club shall be determined via a promotional play off where the second and third placed sides per group first play in a semi-final format before the championship final.

Thursday Results:

  • Wakiso Giants 2-0 JMC Hippos
  • Bukedea Town Council 1-0 Kataka

  • UPDF 0-1 Doves All Stars
