Kyetume progressed to the quarter finals of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after edging Kitara 1-0. They had defeated St Stephens 6-1 at the round of 32

Kyetume Football Club became the fourth FUFA Big League club to qualify for the quarter finals of the 2018/19 Uganda Cup.

The Mukono based side, a club in the Elgon group of the FUFA Big League edged fellow second tier outfit, Kitara of Rwenzori group 1-0 at the Kigaya playground in Hoima.

Veteran striker Robert Ssentongo struck the priceless goal as early as the 13th minute to propel Kyetume to the quarterfinals.

From then onwards, Kyetume, a club coached by former Uganda Cranes international Alex Isabirye defended in numbers and won the game 1-0.

On the same day, Proline, a second division club defeated Arua based Uganda Premier League entity Onduparaka 2-1 at the StarTimes Stadium, Lugogo.

Bright Anukani and Ivan Bogere were on target for Shafiq Bisaso’s charges as Ceaser Samson Okhuti’s penalty had earlier levelled the match at one all at some stage.

There are now four FUFA Big League clubs in the quarterfinals. Proline, Kyetume, Nebbi Central and Wakiso Giants in the quarter finals to join Vipers.

Meanwhile, the round of 16 for the Uganda Cup will resume on Monday, 18th February 2019.

Express plays host to Police at the Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku whilst URA will face Bright Stars at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

The winner of the Uganda Cup earns a direct ticket to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.
