The Division 2 50-over season kicks off this weekend at Budo and Jinja SSS ovals with the weekend pick in Budo as Premier take on ACC.

The two sides could not be separated in the T20 championship with either side winning one game.

Premier has an experienced side full of Division 2 journeymen who were mostly the architects of the promotion of Patidar last year. Nine players who were part of Patidar that was promoted last season joined Premier in the offseason and this makes them a very potent side.

The mostly Asian dominated side has proven over the years to have the players with the necessary skill to handle the pressure of Division 2.

ACC on the other hand lost key players in the off season with Marvin Kitamirike and Dan Batuwa who were key performers moving on but they still remain a decent side. The experience of players such as Amos Kyazze, Emmanuel Odeng and Rokani Sylvester will be key in holding down the side this year.

In the other Division 2 games, newcomers Aziz Damani Development travel to Jinja to face fellow students Jinja SSS. Jinja SSS who gained promotion to Division 2 due to the promotion of SKLPS after Strikers pulled out of Division 1 will give the young Aziz Damani a run for their money.

Aziz Damani have added the experienced duo of Emmanuel Hasakya and Dennis Tabby to their side and these should support the young players such as the U19 duo of Edwin Nuwagaba and Munir Ismail.

Jinja SSS will miss their coach Habib Mugalula who will be with the ladies side during the Victoria Series but the students on their home ground are very potent especially with the ball. They lost their run machine Robinson Obuya to Ceylon Lions in the offseason and they will be looking at the experienced Suleiman Abudallah to carry the run scoring burden this season.

The games this weekend will set the trend for who will be the remaining top 2 sides to gain promotion to Division 1 by the end of the season.

Division 2 has never been short of excitement and this season is no different with atleast six balanced sides.
