Crested Cranes still carry hopes that they can eliminate Lucky of Ethiopia after defeat in the first leg result.

Uganda fell 3-2 to Ethiopia on Wednesday at Addis Ababa stadium but there is a belief that they can win the return leg on Saturday and advance to the next stage.

Crested Cranes coach Faridah Bulega is banking on home advantage and is optimistic her charges will get the required result to progress.

“We are in good shape and ready for the game. The team has had a good recovery process since returning from Ethiopia. Our target is to win and qualify to the next level,” she said. “We are at home and we must play to home advantage,” she stressed

Bulega states that the will be change of strategy from the defensive approach the Crested Cranes played in the first leg to an offensive approach.

“The fact that we need to win to stand a chance of processing. We have to be attack minded but as well cautious enough not to concede.”

Captain Tracy Jones Akiror believes the two goals scored in stoppage time brought back the hope and is confident the team will build on that.

“We did not get the result we wanted but I’m happy that we got those two goals. I believe we have the ability to score not just one but many here,” she indicated.

Possible changes in the starting team

There is a likelihood that coach could ring changes in the team that started away in Ethiopia.

Hasifa Nassuna who came off the bench and scored is likely to start ahead of Shamira Nalujja.

Fauziah Najjemba and Fazilah Ikwaput who were also effective when they came off the bench could start on the wings ahead of Zaina Namuleme and Lilian Mutuuzo respectively.

Phiona Nabbumba looked awful in central midfield and skipper Akiror could return to the team to play alongside Yudaya Nakayenze in midfield.

The winner on aggregate between Uganda and Ethiopia will face Cameroon at the next stage.

Probable Crested Cranes Starting XI: Ruth Aturo (GK), Viola Namuddu, Grace Aluka, Shadia Nankya, Aisha Namukisa, Yudaya Nakayenze, Tracy Jones Akiror, Sandra Nabweteme, Fauziah Najjemba, Fazila Ikwaput
