Ceylon Lions came through the Aziz Damani Development test, winning comfortably to meet Avengers in the final of Division 2 T20 championship.
Ceylon Lions who were favourites from the onset had fallen to Avengers in the first semifinal but got another shot at the final via the eliminator where they met the junior Aziz Damani side.
The youngsters of Aziz Damani won the toss and chose to bat first and only managed 131/7 in their 20 overs.
The experienced Alex Obanda took charge of the Ceylon Lions chase scoring a match-winning 79 off 57 balls to guide his side to a comfortable 6 wicket win with 7 balls to spare.
In the afternoon final against Avengers, Ceylon Lions won the toss and elected to field first and the decision was backed up by some great bowling.
The Ceylon bowling unit squeezed life out the Avengers batting line up giving away nothing as Avengers could only manage 93/8 in their 20 overs.
In the chase, despite Ceylon Lions losing four wickets, Rajesh Nair (33) and man of the match Vihanga Kalhara (23) ensured that there is no comeback for Avengers.
Ceylon Lions won their first local trophy by 6 wickets to be the best T20 side in Division 2.
