Vipers SC saw their chances of retaining the league title go up in flames on Friday with a defeat to URA but will need to fight for their pride when they visit Police at Lugogo on Tuesday.

The soon to be outgoing champions are all but out of the title race but will be eager to complete the league on a high.

Against Police, a side they defeated 1-0 at Kitende in the reverse fixture, they welcome Daniel Sserunkuma from suspension and could also have midfielder Moses Waiswa back from injury.

With nine points adrift of leaders KCCA, another slip up will open the gap to the embarrassment of the three-time champions who were supposed to be the biggest title challengers this season.

Innocent Wafula and Aziz Kayondo are the main players for the Venoms at the moment and will be crucial against the Cops who haven’t lost a home game to Vipers since 2014.

Police FC come into the game a little depleted with midfield gems Hassan ‘Gaata’ Kalega and Ashraf Mugume ‘Fadiga’ ineligible to play against parent side while wingers Johnson Odong and Ruben Kimera are doubtful for the tie as well as left back Arafat Galiwango.

Abdallah Mubiru’s side have won the previous two home meetings with the Venoms and will look to leading scorer Juma Balinya and on form Basani Nasur for goals.
