Ugandan Olympic and World Champion Stephen Kiprotich made history again by securing a podium finish at the 2019 Hamburg Marathon.
Kiprotich who won gold at both the 2012 London Summer Olympics and 2013 World Championships clocked 02:08:31 to make third position behind Ethiopia’s Abshero Ayele (2nd) and Abate Tadu (1st).
Tadu clocked 02:08:25 while Ayele posted 02:08:26. In a nitshell, Kiprotich was edged 6 micro seconds in the showdown.
Ironically, Kiprotich led for a big bout of time, but failed to break away from the chasing pack.
Kiprotich, will walk away with roughly 42 Million Uganda Shillings, a good return for his top 3 finish.
Last year, the 30 year old finished second in this particular race, fifth in 2017.
