It is advantage Proline ahead of the return leg for the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinal with Kyetume next week.

Proline overcame Kyetume 2-1 away at the Nakisunga Ssaza playground on Monday under sunny conditions.

A goal in each half from striker Ibrahim Bonyo and defender Mustafa Mujjuzi inspired the yellow and purple striped side.

Veteran forward Robert Ssentongo got the consolation for the home team with 30 minutes left on the clock.

Kyetume had the early intent to make a breakthrough when midfielder Patrick Ochan had a long-range shot parried out for a corner by goalkeeper Hassan Matovu.

Defender Benon Tahomera had a distant free-kick narrowly miss the target on the quarter hour mark.

It was Kyetume again on 20 minutes when right winger Vicent Kayizzi Walugembe broke through but his cut back was dummied by Faisam Malango to meet Ssentongo who hesitated to shoot.

Against the run of play, the visitors took the lead through Bonyo who raced to meet captain Noordin Bunjo’s teasing through ball and slot the ball over the advancing goalkeeper Ismail Zziwa.

Proline protected this lead heading to the mandatory half time break.

When the second half kicked off, Kyetume introduced dread-locked winger Elukana Nkugwa.

Four minutes into the second stanza, the visitors scored their second goal through defender Mujjuzi’s free-kick past goalkeeper Zziwa who was miles ahead of the goal line.

Kyetume reacted swiftly pulling out Zziwa for another goalkeeper Emmanuel Kalyowa.

With an hour of action, Kyetume pulled a goal back through Ssentongo.

The pint-sized striker expertly finished past goalkeeper Matovu, racing onto a well-weighted chip from Nkugwa to pull a goal back.

Proline technical bench headed by Shafik Bisaso called for a double change 20 minutes into the second half.

Noordin Bunjo and Ibrahim Wamannah paved way for Bright Anukani and the FUFA Big League current top scorer Ivan Bogere respectively.

Both teams had the chance to score in the closing stages of the game.

Vincent Kayizzi, Faisam Luhasimba Malango and Ssentongo were culprits and Proline’s Bonyo missed a one against one incident against goalie Kalyowa.

The return leg between the two clubs will be played at Lugogo on Sunday, 5th May 2019.
