Uganda Premier League (Saturday, 4th May 2019)

  • Green Light Stadium, Arua (4 PM)

Crowd pullers Onduparaka play host to Express in the final game of the season at the Green Light Stadium on Saturday.

The two clubs lock horns days after winning their immediate past games.

Express silenced Bright Stars 3-1 at the Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium on Wednesday with Ibrahim Kayiwa, Ivan Ocholit and Tonny Odur getting the goals for George Ssimwogerere who was celebrating a birthday as well.

Onduparaka defeated Ndejje University 1-0 in a match played over two days because of severe rains at the Arena of Visions in Bombo.

The first match slated for Wednesday was washed out just after 20 minutes.

The remaining 70 minutes were played on the subsequent day with Viane Ssekajugo scoring a last minute gasp goal to condemn Ndejje University back to the FUFA Big league.

The game in Arua will be a plat form for the two sides to bid farewell to the season, where they both lost their head coaches.

Asaph Mwebaze departed Onduparaka and Kefa Kisala was relieved of his duties at Express.

Also, the final outcome will impact the final position on the log for the respective clubs.

Onduparaka is currently 7th with 41 points, two ahead of Express who are on 39.

The Red Eagles target a 40 points mark in a season where they have rebuilt from last year’s near relegation story line.

Express is likely to approach the game cautiously bearing mind that they have the return of the Uganda Cup semi-final coming up in a few day’s time.

Therefore, coach Ssimwogerere and his technical team will ‘balance the boat’ granting rest to players he reasons could of value in the Uganda Cup.

Ivan Ocholit, who scored his first goal of the season since the mid-season transfer is most likely to be named on the starting eleven ahead of the tried and test forward Brian Umony who could be reserved for the cup match.

Tony Odur, Davis Mayanja, Michael Komunda Birungi, Ibrahim Kayiwa, Joel Male, Mubaraka Nsubuga, goalkeepers Mathias Muwanga, Ronald Mutebi and Tonny Kyamera as well as the team skipper John Revita will all be used sparingly.

Viane Ssekajugo will be a key figure for Onduparaka at home against Express

The Onduparaka team is roaring for a home victory before their home fans who have stood by the club in every thick and thin moments.

Ceaser Okhuti, Ezra Bidda, Viane Ssekajugo and the returning Gadafi Wahabu are star players on the team expected to lift them at home regardless of the reported salary arrears issue at hand.

Gadafi Wahabu recently scored a penalty against BUL at the Green Light Stadium

The match at the Green Light will be handled by Paul Omara as the center referee.
