St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende recorded their second victory at the on-going 2019 Copa Coca Cola schools football championship, winning majestically 5-0 over Iganga S.S during a group E contest in Jinja on Thursday.
Sports Club Villa forward Charles ‘Neymar’ Lwanga netted twice with Richard Basangwa getting a hat-trick as the 10-time national championships ran rout at the Mighty Arena, also home of Uganda Premier League side, Kirinya-Jinja S.S.
This was St Mary’s Kitende second win of the campaign following the opening day 2-0 win against Nakaseke International.
Kitende was well rested having skipped Tuesday and Wednesday match days.
Defending champions Buddo S.S registered their third victory of the tournament, winning with ease 6-0 against Lira based Akiibua at the Kakindu Stadium.
Holding midfielder Hamza Mulambuzi, Innocent Ronald, Herbert Kibirango, Emmanuel Loki and Joseph Bukenya Kizza scored for Buddo.
Meanwhile, Nakaseke International smiled 8-1 over a hapless Ngora High side.
Standard High School Zana gritted their teeth to overcome West Nile based school, Paidha S.S.
Mandela College lost 1-3 to Lira Town College, Kampala representatives Uganda Martyrs High School, Lubaga edged Busende Memorial 2-1 as Mbarara High needed 1 -0 win over Fort Portal S.S.
Ten-man St Julian Gayaza fell to Masaka’s St Henry’s Kitovu 1-0 with Silver Ochwo getting red.
Kamwenge Vocational & Secondary school, an institution owned by Rev. Canon John Mulindabigwi won 1-0 over Nyangili.
A couple of stalemates were recorded on Wednesday.
The Royal Giants and St John’s Mukono tie ended goal apiece.
The same scoreline was recorded for Loro S.S against Sentah College, Lira’s Layibi with Bukedea’s Amus College as well as in the game for Kigezi College, Butobero against St Andrea Kaahwa.
Sadly, the hosts Jinja College remain win-less after four matches.
On Thursday, JICO, as they are christened drew goal-less with Mbale Progressive Academy.
More group stage games continue on Friday at the various grounds in Jinja.
The tournament will climax on Saturday, 18th May 2019.
