Copa Coca Cola Football 2019:

  • Kibuli 1-0 Buddo (Group H)

Copa Football giants Kibuli Secondary School overcame the reigning champions Buddo S.S 1-0 during the two school’s final group H game at Kakindu Stadium on Monday morning.

Nicholas Luzige’s second half strike was the all-important goal that inspired Kibuli to victory before a passionate crowd.

Earlier, Abdul Wahid Idd would have scored for Kibuli but his goal bound effort was cleared off the line by Buddo S.S defender Reagan Kasumba.

Buddo S.S fielded largely a second string with majority of their first team players rested well assured of the top group H status regardless of the out-come from the game.

The final result drove Kibuli S.S to joint top of the group H, on 15 points, same as Buddo who enjoy a superior goal difference.

Meanwhile, Jinja S.S completed group B unbeaten with a hard fought 1-0 win against Bulo Parents at the Jinja S.S 1 play ground.

Lawrence Tezikya scored his 11th goal of the campaign, coming in the 13th minute of the well-attended game.

Other successful schools to round of 16:

From group A, Jinja Progressive Academy was joined by St Kaggwa.

Unbeaten Jinja S.S and Bulo Parents are from group B.

Royal Giant High School, also unbeaten in the group stages as well as St John High School qualified from group C.

Two unbeaten schools from group D; Standard High School, Zana and Uganda Martyrs High School, Rubaga progressed to the round of 16.

St Mary’s Kitende and Mbarara High School (there is a case pending) make the grade from group E as St Julian High School – Gayaza and St Henry’s Kitovu make it from group F.

Another unbeaten school, Masaka SS as well as Kawempe Royal College progressed from group G and the group H successful schools are Buddo and Kibuli.

The group stages ended on Monday.

Tuesday, 14th May 2019 is a rest day before the round of 16 matches roll off on the subsequent day, Wednesday, 15th May 2019.
