Uganda’s middle distance runner Winnie Nanyondo set a new National Record and Personal Best in the 1500m.

Nanyondo crossed the finish line in a time of 4:01.39 during the second meet of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League at Shanghai Stadium on Saturday, May 18.

The race was surprisingly won by Moroccan Rababe Arafi, with the Ugandan who was in second place beaten for pace in the final 50 meters by
Gudaf Tsegay.

Meanwhile, rising star Peruth Chemutai ran her Season Best in the 3000m Steeplechase.

The 2018 IAAF World Junior Silver medalist finished the race in a time of 9:17.78 behind Kenyans Beatrice Chepkoech and Celliphine Chespol.
