International Build Up Match: DR Congo 1-1 Kenya
Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo played to a one all draw in an international friendly match played at Estadio de Santa Ana in Madrid, Spain.
Kenya Harambee Stars took the lead through Michel Olunga in the 25th minute.
Ayoub Masika dribbled past the Congolese defence, before feeding the Kashiwa Reysol forward to finish into an empty net for the half time lead.
DR Congo had a chance to find the equalizer six minutes into the second half ruined when Cedric Bakambu, a forward at Chinese club Beijing Guoan missed from the spot.
Bakambu’s effort was saved by Kenya’s goalkeeper Patrick Matasi.
Matasi turned the villain, gifting the DR Congo Leopards a soft equalizer with three minutes to play.
The goalkeeper failed to deal with a free-kick from West Ham’s winger Arthur Masuaku, and a seemingly harmless delivery slipped through the goalkeeper’s legs.
Democratic Republic of Congo are in group A alongside Egypt, Zimbabwe and Uganda.
They kick off the AFCON 2019 campaign with a date against Uganda Cranes on the 22nd of June, before playing Egypt on the 26th.
Meanwhile, Kenya will play in Group C alongside Algeria, Senegal and Tanzania as they are facing Algeria in their 2019 AFCON opener.
