Zimbabwe offensive midfielder Khama Billiat, 28, has suffered a knee injury just days before the start of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
Billiat has missed the country’s last two training sessions due to discomfort in his knee.
The Kaizer Chiefs’ star player also missed the Warriors’ last preparation game against Tanzania (ended one goal apiece).
Despite the injury, Billiat is expected to appear in the Warriors’ first game of the tournament against Egypt.
With 9 goals and 10 assists in 35 games overall competitions this season, Billiat had a brilliant start at his new club in South Africa.
He also played a major part in helping Zimbabwe qualify for the AFCON finals, by scoring three goals in six matches.
Zimbabwe is in Group A in the AFCON alongside hosts Egypt, DR Congo and Uganda Cranes.
Their opening game will be against the Egypt Pharaohs on June 21 in the Cairo International Stadium.
