- Match No. 28: Gomba 4-0 Kabula
Gomba Ssaza football team smiled 4-0 over Kabula during a Muganzirwazza group duel in the Masaza Cup 2020 tournament at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Left footed attacker Charles Bbale led the assault with a brace.
Junior Juma Lutankome and captain Abdallah Ssentongo added the other goals in the exciting contest officiated by FUFA referee Nasser Muhammed Kirya.
Lutankome headed home the opener past goalkeeper Richard Sseguya in the 23rd minute off Collin Sseruwu’s cross from the left flank.
Gomba added the second when Sseruwu once again turned provider, laying the ball inside the goal before a totally unmarked Bbale tapped home past goalkeeper Richard Sseguya.
By the half time break, Gomba led 2-0.
Upon restart of the second stanza, the Gomba technical bench made three changes.
Defender Fred Gift, forward Jackson Ssemugabi and midfielder Ashraf Zizinga were introduced to add fire up for the four time record champions in the competition.
Gift replaced Hamis Dagada Kafeero at right back, Ssemugabi took over Sseruwu’s slot and Isaac Musiima paved way for Zizinga.
Captain Ssentongo made it three with a headed goal and Bbale struck a penalty following a foul in the area on Lutankome.
There were no further goals in the game as Gomba took home the maximum points with 4 goals to top Muganizirwazza group.
Buddu, 3-0 winners against Ssese in the earlier match second placed in this Muganzirwazza group.
Lanky striker Frank Sebuufu scored twice and Emmanuel Mwesigwa added the other as Michael Skills Lukyamuzi’s charges got an emphatic victory.
Friday is rest day of the competition as well as national election day.
Action will resume on Friday, 15th January 2021 with two matches.
Gomba takes on Ssese in the opener at noon with Kabula facing Buddu in the subsequent game by 3 PM.
