Derrick Kakooza isn’t thinking about any potential transfer at the moment but has focus on helping the Uganda Hippos win the Total U-20 Afcon finals.
The Ugandan youngster has caught the attention of many clubs after his impressive shows at the ongoing tournament in Mauritania where he leads the scorer’s charts with five goals.
The Police FC forward who has come through the club youth ranks is a subject of interest from various clubs across the globe including many from Africa.
“For now, my focus is on helping the team win the Afcon trophy,” the young stated. “As a team, we want to win the trophy and make our country proud. Anything beyond that including a potential transfer is something that will come after the tournament,” he added.
South Africa’s website Soccerladuma has reported that top clubs in the DSTV Premiership are eyeing the signature of Kakooza.
“Derrick Kakooza is a talented youngster who is doing very well at the U20 AFCON. There’s a lot of interest in the boy and we are talking to people (clubs in the PSL) about him. The boy is very good, and he can do well at any of the big clubs,” said the source as quoted by Soccerladuma.
The Uganda Hippos take on Ghana’s Starlets in the U-20 Afcon finals on Saturday and Kakooza will be eager to add on his goal tally.
