Goalkeeper Denis Masinde Onyango returned between the posts as Mamelodi Sundowns nicked victory against TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi on Saturday.

Sundowns registered a 2-1 win at the Stade TP Mazembe to extend their perfect run in the CAF Champions this season.

They became the first team to beat TP Mazembe at home in the CAF Champions League since 18 October 2009 after 53 matches (42 wins 9 draws).

Onyango who was substituted in the 5-1 win against CR Belouizdad of Algeria after sustaining an injury last weekend and was a doubt for the game in Congo returned to help his team win.

The Brazilians snatched a late win thanks to Lyke Lakay’s free-kick at the death of the clock to help Sundowns secure a 2-1 win.

Peter Shalulile had given the visitors the lead in the 67th minute connecting home from Themba Zwane’s layup.

The home side levelled matters, eight minutes to time through veteran Tresa Mputu.

However, with the game destined for the end, Sundowns won a free kick in the 90th minute and left back Lakay struck home the winner.

The victory means Mamelodi Sundowns have had a perfect start to the group stages, winning all their opening three games and lead group B.

The other game in the same group will see Al Hilal of Sudan take on CR Beloiuzdad.
