FUFA has on Wednesday confirmed the kick-off date and playing format for the Women Elite League, the second division on the Women’s football domestic competition pyramid.
In a meeting with club officials held at Jevine Hotel in Kampala, FUFA Competitions Director, Aisha Nalule confirmed the date of kick-off of the 2021 season as 2nd May.
“The 2021 season of the FUFA Women Elite League will kick-off on 2nd May 2021 with all games played at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru,” she confirmed.
Nalule further revealed that the new league will be played in a tournament format, different from the previous seasons where the 16 teams were pooled in two groups (Elizabeth and Victoria) and played on home and away basis.
“Because we have limited time and playing under abnormal circumstances, the playing format has also been revised. We shall have the 16 teams divided into four groups.”
