BUL Football Club overcame Soltilo Bright Stars 2-0 at the Kavumba Recreational Stadium in Wakiso on Wednesday, 10th March 2021.
A goal in each half from Deogracious Ojok and Robert Mukongotya were on target for the visiting team.
This was the second game of the double header at Kavumba following Kitara’s earlier 3-2 win against Wakiso Giants.
Ojok gave BUL the lead on 6 minutes with a well struck free-kick.
Soltilo Bright Stars’ Joseph Janjali was cautioned in the 43rd minute by FIFA female referee Shamirah Nabadda as they trailed 1-0 by close of the opening stanza.
Upon restart of play in the second half, Mukogotya was also cautioned in the 50th minute.
Soltilo Bright Stars introduced talisman Joseph Akandwanaho for Emmanuel Loki before Andrew Kaggwa picked up a caution on the hour mark.
BUL scored a second free-kick through Mukogotya with 20 minutes left on the clock.
Ibrahim Kasinde was introduced for Soltilo Bright Stars for Joseph Janjali on the 80th minute mark.
The visitors called off Ojok for Musa Esenu to play the four additional minutes after normal time had elapsed.
BUL defender Walter Ochora was named the pilsner man of the match.
This was the 5th victory of the season in 13 matches for BUL that puts them to 9th on the log with 16 points.
Soltilo Bright Stars suffered their 5th loss of the campaign which leaves them in the 11th position on 14 points.
Meanwhile, Kitara Football Club registered their first win of the season, overcoming Wakiso Giants 3-2.
Edson Agondeze’s brace and Peter Lomoro’s opener inspired Kitara to the memorable victory of the early kick off at Kavumba.
Viane Ssekajugo and second half substitute netted Wakiso Giants’ two goals.
Lomoro opened the scoring in the 32nd minute. Moments later, Wakiso Giants got a penalty that midfielder Rahmat Ssenfuka missed as the home side led 1-0 by the half time break.
Elsewhere, Vipers returned to the league summit with a convincing 3-0 win over a 10 man SC Villa at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Dan Sserunkuma, Yunus Ssentamu and Paul Willa scored the goals for Venoms.
BUL hosts Kitara this Saturday, 13th March 2021 at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe in Jinja city.
On the same day, Soltilo Bright Stars travels to Western Uganda to face Mbarara City at the Kakyeka Stadium.
