2020-21 Uganda Premier League (Match Day 15)

  • Vipers 1-0 KCCA
  • Onduparaka  0-3 URA
  • Mbarara City 1-1 BUL
  • Bright Stars 1-2 SC Villa

Vipers Sports Club recorded a routine 1-0 home victory over KCCA during match day 15 of the Uganda Premier League on Wednesday, 17 March 2021.

A first half own goal from defender Peter Magambo in the 39th minute won the day for Vipers.

Magambo poorly timed a teasing cross from left winger Disan Galiwango before hurriedly reacting to clear the ball which had crossed over the goal line.

FIFA Referee Ali Sabila made the goal count much to the delight of the Venoms.

KCCA lost striker Charles Lwanga through injury with Brian Aheebwa taking over his place in the first half.

Aheebwa was a culprit of several goal scoring opportunities with a free header and a poorly volleyed effort all missing target.

The second half was dominated by half chances from either side as Vipers defended gallantly.

Yunus Ssentamu, Ceaser Manzoki, Dan Sserunkuma, Ibrahim Orit and Karim Watambala all got rested for Vipers.

Sserunkuma paved way for Richard Basangwa, Orit was rested for David Bagoole, Paul Mucureezi took over Watambala’s place and Congolese forward Manzoki was called off for Muhammed Shaban.

KCCA replaced Gift Ali with Kezironi Kizito and Hassan Musana was introduced for Samson Kigozi.

Maximum points for Vipers ensured they complete the first round with 33 points in second place, three points off the leaders URA who beat Onduparaka 3-0 in Arua.

This was KCCA’s fourth loss in 15 matches which keeps them in fourth position as well with 27 points.
