Action between Gaddafi and Maroons at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe in Jinja

FUFA Big League 2021 (Match Day 2) – Sunday,28th March 2021 Results:

Elgon Group:

  • Paidha Black Angels 1-1  Mbale Heroes
  • Gaddafi 0-2 Maroons

Rwenzori Group:

  • Proline 0-1 Tooro United
  • Luwero United  1-1 Nyamityobora

Maroons Football Club overcame Gaddafi 2-0 during the Elgon group contest in the FUFA Big League at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Jinja city on Sunday, March 28, 2021.

Striker Fred Amaku was the hero with a well taken brace on the evening.

After a goal-less opening half, Amaku scored two goals in the closing stanza to give the visitors the maximum points away from home.

The first of Amaku’s strikes arrived in the 62nd minute as the icing on the cake coming with 8 minutes to play.

Charles Ayiekoh Lukula’s coached side has now won two games in succession after a convincing 3-1 home win on match day one against Paidha Black Angels last Thursday.

Gaddafi was unfortunate as they lost their captain Pascal Ngobi with just three minutes into the game and his place was taken by Umar Kyeyune.

Meanwhile, Paidha Black Angels shared the spoils with  Mbale Heroes  1-all at the Bar Okoro stadium in Zombo during the other Elgon group contest on the day.

Other results:

In the Rwenzori group, Tooro United recorded a convincing result away from home, out-witting Proline 1-0 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo in Kampala.

Three other games in the Rwenzori group ended in stalemates.

Luwero United  and Nyamityobora played to a 1-all draw. The same result was recorded between Ndejje University  at home against Mbarara’s Terrazo and Tiles.

The duel between Water and Kigezi Home Boyz ended goal-less at the Kavumba Recreational stadium, Wakiso.

Match day three will be played on Thursday, 1st April 2021.

Three clubs will be promoted to the 2021-22 Uganda Premier League. Two clubs are promoted directly from the two groups (Elgon and Rwenzori).

The third club is determined via a promotional play-off.
