Uganda Cup: Round of 32

SC Villa 0-1 Ndejje University FC

Ndejje University FC took advantage in the Uganda Cup, round of 32 tie against SC Villa by winning the first leg on Monday at the Bombo Miltary Barracks Ground.

Despite ending the match with a player less, the University side held on to secure a 1-0 win ahead of the return leg slated for later this week.

Brian Ssali scored the all-important goal of the game in the 37th minute, thanks to Goerge Akena’s cross that found him unmarked at the back post.

Diminutive midfielder Nicholas Luzige was shown marching orders by FIFA Referee Ali Sabila Chelangat in the 65th minute after picking up a second booking.

Numerical advantage did not help SC Villa as the visitors held on to emerge victorious.

The two sides will face off at the Arena of Visions over the weekend for a return leg with the winner on aggregate advancing to the round of 16.

It should be noted that unlike previous editions, this year’s Uganda Cup is played on a home and away basis except for the final.
