Stanbic Uganda Cup 2021 (Round of 32):

2nd Leg: Busoga United 1-2 Vipers (Vipers qualify 5-1 on aggregate)

Vipers Sports Club is through to the round of 16 for the 2021 Stanbic Uganda Cup tournament.

The feat followed a 2-1 victory on the road against Busoga United at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru during the return leg duel.

Lethal forward Yunus “Manucho” Ssentamu and left footed attacker Lawrence “Enzo” Tezikya were on target for the Venoms, Uganda Cup winners in 2016.

Busoga United’s earlier equalizer by second half subsistute Isaac Wagoina turned into a mere consolation with Tezikya’s late winner.

Ssentamu gave Vipers the lead on 24 minutes connecting home a cut back by Richard Basangwa past goalkeeper Rogers Omedwa.

Wagoina, a second half substitute headed past Fabien Mutombora after raising highest to nod home a curling corner kick by another substitute Ivan Wani.

With the game destined for a stalemate, Tezikya calmly beat Omedwa after collecting a decent through ball by Joseph Dhata in the 85th minute.

Wagoina blasted over a would be equalizer deep in added time.

Vipers thus completed a double having won the first leg 3-0 at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Easter Monday to qualify 5-1 on aggregate.

Vipers join other already clubs to the round of 16 stage as BUL, URA, Maroons and Proline.

Meanwhile, URA beat Mbarara City 1-0 courtesy of Brian Majwega’s goal, Maroons condemned Terrazo and Tiles 6-0 and Proline needed a post match penalty win over MYDA after the Tororo based side had won 3-1 in normal time.

The Uganda Cup action continues on Saturday, 10th April 2021.
