Only two Ugandans Denis Onyango and Taddeo Lwanga will feature in the quarter finals of this season’s Caf Champions League.

Onyango helped his side Mamelodi Sundowns reach the last eight by topping Group B with 13 points at the expense of Joseph Ochaya’s TP Mazembe and Jamal Salim’s Al Hilal of Sudan.

Mazembe and Hilal finished 3rd and 4th in the group respectively with Algeria’s CR Belouizdad taking the second position behind Sundowns.

Meanwhile, Lwanga was instrumental in group matches helping Tanzania’s Simba advance as Group A leaders along with record winners Al Ahly of Egypt.

Said Kyeyune’s Al Merriekh from Sudan finished bottom of the group with only two points.

Only South Africa (Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs) and Algeria (CR Belouizdad and MC Alger) have two clubs in the last eight with Morocco (Raja Casablanca), Tanzania (Simba) and Egypt (Al Ahly), Tunisia (Esperance) completing the puzzle.

The Quarterfinals will be played between May 14 and May 22. Semis are for June 18-26 and the final will be played on 17 July 2021 at a venue to be announced.

Group Winners (Seeded): Simba (Tanzania), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) and ES Tunis (Tunisia).

Group Runners up: Al Ahly (Egypt), CR Belouizdad (Algeria), Kaizer Chiefs (South Africa), MC Alger (Algeria).
