Ugandan goalkeeper Ismail Watenga made his long awaited debut for Premier Soccer League(PSL) side Chippa United FC in South Africa on Monday.

The former Vipers SC shot stopper who joined Chippa United FC in December last year after training with Mamelodi Sundowns faced the latter in his first appearance Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

The game witnessed two Ugandan goalkeepers feature in this game with Watenga turning out for Chippa United FC while Denis Onyango was in goal for Mamelodi Sundowns.

League leaders Sundowns who are still unbeaten extended their stay at the top with a hard-fought 2-1 win.

The Brazlians took the lead in the 16th minute with Themba Zwane converting from the spot after Aubrey Modiba was brought down in the box.

The hosts levelled matters through Augustine Chidi Kwem, four minutes after the break.

It was Peter Shalulile who restored the lead for Sundowns in the 74th minute and they held on to eventually claim all three points. This was his 9th goal of the campaign.

Victory took Mamelodi Sundowns to 46 points, six ahead of second placed Amazulu albeit the former have two games in hand.

Chippa United on the other hand are still engulfed in the relegation mix and sit second from bottom on the log with 17 points.
