Express missed a big chance to complete their first double over SC Villa since 2013/14 with the two sides playing to a goalless draw at Bombo Barracks.

Without suspended Murushid Jjuuko at the heart of defence, Wasswa Bbosa played skipper Enock Walusimbi alongside Isa Lumu in defence with Denis Mubuya as a right back.

The hosts started better dominating possession with the Red Eagles playing cautiously but later grew into the game especially in the second half.

Eric Kambale made a good connection off Godfrey Lwesibawa corner early on but it went agonisingly wide while at the opposite end, Mathias Muwanga had to be at his best to parry Ronald Ssekiganda header over the bar.

Before the break, Saidi Keni kept out as Charles Musiige as the two sides remained tied.

There was little created in the second period as Villa resorted to sitting back and getting their rivals on the break.

A points sees Express go on 36 points, three adrift of both Vipers and URA while SC Villa stays 6th with 29 points.

Villa’s next game will be a trip to MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo where KCCA is lurking on Sunday while Express host Mbarara City on Saturday.
