FUFA Women Super League
Matchday Two
Uganda Martyrs High School 1-0 Kawempe Muslim Ladies
Tooro Queens 1-0 Makerere University
Second-half substitute Ruth Nyakato was the heroine for newcomers Tooro Queens as they overcame Makerere University on Tuesday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru
Nyakato came on five minutes to full-time, replacing Slyvia Kempango and she scored deep into stoppage time to guide the Fort Portal based outfit to victory.
The game saw either side created chances but the forward got the decisive moment when she found herself unmarked at the far post and did no mistake to slot home sending the team into wild celebrations.
Either side were denied by the woodwork, first with Joanita Ainembabazi firing straight at the upright while Makerere’s Amina Nababi saw her left-footed effort kiss off the base of the goal post.
Makerere had themselves to blame for failing to take away the numerous chances created especially in the second stanza with Samali Nakamatte, Jospehine Ndagire and Sharon Namatovu all culprits.
With no point from their opening two games, Makerere will now need to win the final two games and hope the results from other games play in their favour.
Tooro Queens on the other hand will go into Wednesday’s clash against wounded Kawempe Muslim with heads high.
Kampala Queens who were obliterated by Kawempe on Monday will seek redemption against Group 1 leaders Uganda Martyrs in the other game to be played on Wednesday.
