FUFA Women Super League: Namubiru late winner against Wasteful Uganda Martyrs
FUFA Women Super League
Uganda Martyrs High School 0-1 Kampala Queens
When Kampala Queens lost 4-0 to Kawempe Muslim in the opening game, their hopes were dampened and needed to make a statement against Uganda Martyrs on Wednesday to brighten their chances.
This is what they exactly did against Uganda Martyrs in a closely contested affair played at the FUFA Technical Centre.
An emphatic victory meant group 1 still has four teams with the possibility of making it to the playoffs.
Kawempe Muslim and Uganda Martyrs are level on six points while Tooro Queens and Kampala Queens have three point apiece.
Rukia Namubiru scored a late winner with her looped effort outside the area beating goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga watching.
Uganda Martyrs who were wasteful on the day will have themselves to blame for failure to put away the numerous chances created.
On three occasions they caught Kampala Queens defence flat footed but the forwards in Catherine Nagadya and Spencer Nakacwa lacked composure.
Nagadya failed to lobe past goalkeeper Joan Namusisi when she went through while Spencer Nakacwa had the chance to find the equalizer deep into stoppage time but failed to tap home at the mercy of an empty net.
Uganda Martyrs will now have to beat Tooro United in the final group game on Saturday.
