- Nile Special Stout Rugby Premier League – Matchday 7 | 4pm – Mongers vs Kobs | House of Pain, Entebbe
Kobs Rugby Club face a stern test to their title ambitions this season when they make the trip to Entebbe to face Plascon Mongers.
Having clinched a 12-03 win against a resilient Jinja Hippos last weekend, Kobs will be keen to avoid another hiccup to their flawless charge for the first league title since 2016.
Despite losing the three most recent meetings between the two sides, Mongers have the reputation of being Kobs’ hard nut to crack.
Most recent meetings:
- League 2019/20: Mongers 14-22 Kobs
- Uganda Cup semi-final: Mongers 8-19 Kobs
- League 2018/19: Kobs 30-29 Mongers
However, this season, Mongers have had a tough campaign. They find themselves in fifth place behind Jinja Hippos and had to hold on dearly for an 08-03 win against Rams at Makerere last weekend.
For this match, Mongers have gone for power and experience in their forwards. Ronald Adigas starts at the front row while Andrew Olweny is at the back of the scrum.
Kobs, on the other hand, welcome, for the first time this season, their full arsenal of national sevens stars. Pius Ogena starts at eighthman, Adrian Kasito at scrumhalf, Joseph Aredo at flyhalf, and Ian Munyani at outside center.
