At least 208 golfers are expected to brace the lake side Entebbe Golf course during the qualification round of the Singleton Golf Championship (season 5) on Saturday, April 24, 2021.

Like the format of play has been over the years, this year’s tournament will also be based on four ball better ball (4BBB).

This championship will be played over 7 months with the first month being the qualifying month and the format of play is medal.

The championship will be played over a stipulated round not exceeding 18 holes unless in the event of a tie.

In case of a tie, there will be a sudden death play-off starting on hole 1, 2 and 9 in that order until there is a winner.

During the qualifying round, the best 63 pairs’ scores together with the defending champion make the qualifying round.

Lady golfers are allowed to participate and may pair with any other golfer of their choice, however the stroke indices used for all matches shall be those indicated on the scorecard for the championship.

Throughout the championship, there will be a subsidiary event for players not participating in the match play.

There is a rules and disputes committee. Play shall be in accordance with the R & A Rules of Golf and the local Rules and bye laws of Entebbe club.

Any disputes or protests will be decided by the rules and disputes committee and their ruling shall be final.

The committee (Edwin Tumusiime, Collins Nuwagira, Dickson Lagoro and Jacob Byamukama).

The theme night during the 19th hole celebrations will be ‘life in the Carribean”.

Singleton are the headline sponsors with other partners on board as Entebbe Golf Club, Uganda Golf Union, NCBA, RwandAir and Toyota.

The subsequent rounds have been scheduled as follows;

  • 29th May (Round 1)
  • 26th June (Round 2)
  • 24th July (Round 3)
  • 21st August (Round 4)
  • 30th October (Round 5)
  • 27th November (Grand finale)
