Mbale Heroes had the best and last laugh in the famous Mbale derby with a 2-1 victory over nemesis entity Kataka at the Mbale Municipal Stadium on Sunday, 25 April 2021.
Defender Ibrahim Kibumba and forward Luka Okori scored Mbale Heroes’ goals in the well contested duel.
Nasur Nandala’s earlier equalizer turned out to be the consolation.
Kibumba netted the opener after 21 minutes with a well struck free-kick.
The joy was short lived with Nandala’s equalizer as the first half ended 1 goal apiece.
Okori found the winner with 20 minutes to play to spark wild celebrations and own the city’s bragging rights.
The two clubs ended the match a man less folllowing straight red cards.
Kataka’s Hassan Wadenga was sent off for an early shower and so was Mbale Heroes’ forward Ronald Magwali.
Meanwhile, Arua Hill maintained the summit status aloft the Elgon group with a 2-0 win on the road at Paidha Black Angels in Zombo (Green Light stadium).
In Bukedea, Blacks Power subjected Maroons to a 3-1 defeat, the Prisons Warders’ fourth loss on the row.
At the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe – Jinja city, Gaddafi recorded a 1-0 win over Calvary.
Ronald Obele scored the all-important goal in the 72nd minute.
Rwenzori Group:
Kigezi Home Boyz and Rwenzori group leaders Tooro United played to a 2-all draw at the Kabale Municipal stadium.
Terrazo and Tiles fell 1-0 to Nyamityobora during a rain marred derby at the Kakyeka stadium in Mbarara city.
Meanwhile, Ndejje University fell 2-1 at their own Arena of Visions fortress to visiting Luwero United.
Action resumes on Monday, 26th April 2021 with a single game between Proline and Water at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
