Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Football Club edged Kitara 2-1 on match day 20 of the 2020-21 Star Times Uganda Premier League at the Military Barracks stadium in Bombo.

Brian Kayanja and Charles Ssebutinde scored two first half goals for the army side.

Nathan Oloro pulled back the consolation for visiting Kitara.

Kayanja got the opener as early as the second minute for UPDF. Former Uganda U-17 and 20 international Ssebutinde added the second with 8 minutes to end the opening stanza 2-0 in favour of the home side.

Oloro scored the consolation for Kitara in the 67th minute and give Kitara hope coming to the final 20 minutes of the game.

2-1 the game ended as UPDF swiftly recovered from the previous match day loss when they fell 4-3 away to BUL in Jinja city at Bugembe.

This season alone, UPDF has defeated Kitara on two times, the first meeting ending 5-1 at Kavumba Recreational Stadium.

The army side coached by Kefa Kisala has now registered 10 wins out of 20 matches played.

The maximum points took them to 31 points as they improved to 6th position on the 16 team log.

Kitara on the other hand continued with their dismissal performance since being promoted to the top flight, falling for the 17th time out of 20 matches.

Anthony Ssekitto’s side remains bottom placed with just 5 points.

Other Results:

During the other results on Saturday, Soltilo Bright Stars held visiting URA to a goal-less draw at Kavumba.

Mbarara City needed a last minute winner to condemn Sports Club Villa 2-1 at the Kakyeka stadium.

Jude Ssemugabi had given Mbarara City the lead on 7 minutes. This was neutralized by SC Villa captain Alex Emmanuel Wasswa’s equalizer three minutes to the hour mark.

Henry Kitegenyi scored a late-late winner to give the Ankole Lions maximum points.

Police humiliated MYDA 6-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo. Ben Ocen and Brian Muluuli Mayanja each scored twice with Police’s other two goals coming from Muwadda Mawejje and the man of the match Frank “Zagga” Tumwesigye.

Meanwhile, Busoga United edged BUL 1-0 at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Jinja city during the epic derby match.

Ivan Wani scored the price-less goal in the 57th minute of the well contested game.
