Jinja based Uganda Premier League entity BUL Football Club has confirmed the sacking of former head coach Arthur “Da Gaffar” Kyesmira, a CAF “B” licensed coach.

In the same vein, the club confirmed the appointment of former Uganda Cranes international Alex Musongola Isabirye as the next coach until the end of the season.

“We have officially separated with Arthur Kyesimira as head coach. Alex Isabirye will carry on the head coach duties until the end of the season” a club statement disclosed.

Kyesimira was suspended 24 hours after the bitter loss 1-0 to traditional rivals Busoga United at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, Jinja city.

Although he attended the club’s recovery session n the subsequent day, Kyesimira used the opportunity to bid farewell to the players as he had learnt his fate.

On Monday, 26th April 2021, Kyesimira was absent from the club’s training session ahead of the visit to Bombo against Sports Club Villa, a duel that ended one goal apiece.

During the one-all draw with SC Villa, BUL was managed by interim coach James Magala, a goalkeeping tactician.

Kyesimira had signed a two year employment contract in February 2021 with 10 losses, 7 wins and 3 draws in 20 matches played.

Kawowo Sports has established that besides the poor results, Kyesimira had failed to control the dressing room.

Kyesimira was lured after the shocking sacking of their technical team that was headed by veteran Frank “Video” Anyau as technical director.

Then head coach Peter Onen, Hussein Ali Kheri (Assistant Head coach), and Abdul Kigenyi (Goal keeping coach) were all affected.

Way Forward:

Isabirye who hold a CAF “A” license returns to the club that he once served and will swing straight into business with the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 16 double legged duels against the winner between Kitara and Kigezi Home Boyz.

The first leg for Kitara and Kigezi Home Boyz at the round of 32 will be played on Thursday, 29th April 2021 at Kavumba Recreational Stadium.

He is expected to work with Dan Kabale and James Magala (goalkeeping coach).

In the league, BUL plays Mbarara City on 8th May 2021 at the Kyabazinga Stadium, Bugembe in Jinja city.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
