Record winners and defending champions Al Ahly will face South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns in the 2021 Caf Champions League quarter finals.
The fixture pits former Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane against his former bosses and arguably the biggest at this stage of the competition.
Denis Onyango and Sundowns beat the Red Devils in 2016 under Mosimane to win their only continental title and it will be interesting to see who gets the better of the other over two legs.
In other pairings, Tanzania’s Simba, home to Ugandan midfield enforcer Taddeo Lwanga will take on South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs, MC Alger of Algeria faces Moroccan giants Wydad AC while another North African pairing pits CR Belouizdad (Algeria) and Esperance of Tunisia.
In the semi-finals, the winner between MC Alger and Wydad takes on the winner between Kaizer Chiefs and Simba with Sundowns/Ah Ahly facing CR Belouizdad/Esperance.
